2024 Kindle Paperwhite 6 vs Paperwhite 5 Comparison Review

2024 Kindle Paperwhite 6 vs Paperwhite 5 Comparison Review

Kindles at Amazon: https://amzn.to/3YveBIi (affiliate link)

This video shows the differences between the new 7″ Kindle Paperwhite for 2024 (the 12th gen model) and the 6.8″ Paperwhite from 2021, the 11th gen model, the PW6 vs the PW5. They are mostly the same but the new model is faster and it has a newer E Ink screen with better contrast.

I would have changed it from my PW5 if it had a metalic back, not the rubbery one(like oasis). Rubbery back is nice to hold, but it gets dirty toooo easily. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for the comparison, and especially for highlighting the difference in contrast. For me, better contrast is the only reason to choose the 12th-gen. How does it compare to the Cobo Clara BW?

  3. @maximu12 on October 26, 2024 at 10:13 pm

How does the contrast compare with the oasis or voyage?

  4. @davidbronstein2040 on October 26, 2024 at 10:13 pm

Amazon is really getting lazy these days. My next e-reader will be a kobo for sure.

  5. @dr.strange.2655 on October 26, 2024 at 10:14 pm

Básicamente es lo mismo, no vale la pena gastar en ese modelo.

  6. @airixxxx on October 26, 2024 at 10:18 pm

I like the design of the Oasis more, I think they should make all their devices with that design, shame they discontinued it.

  7. @jayvansickle7607 on October 26, 2024 at 10:19 pm

Is the New Paperwhite more comparable to the Voyage now? As far as screen clarity?

  8. @maziar_d on October 26, 2024 at 10:20 pm

can you do a basic kindle 11 gen 2022 vs 2024 video too? really curious how the screens compare.
edit: also would appreciate pw6 vs basic kindle 2024

  9. @royalhoward2882 on October 26, 2024 at 10:20 pm

I’ll be sticking with my PW5 for now it still looks and functions like brand new. Not enough reasons to upgrade and at $160.00 – $200.00 I’ll pass.

Thanks for this great video comparison! Will I wait for Black Friday or any other sale to buy the new Paperwhite? That is THE question!

Great to see you update again❤ Thanks for the review!

  12. @Billinous on October 26, 2024 at 10:22 pm

Id prefer if Amazon made a small kindle of 4 to 5 inches.

  13. @Justin-uc8sc on October 26, 2024 at 10:22 pm

People who upgrade their Paperwhite to the Paperwhite need to rethink their finances.

  14. @elcuervo745 on October 26, 2024 at 10:24 pm

There is hardly a difference between the models.

  15. @AlucardNoir on October 26, 2024 at 10:32 pm

You might be able to tell when you have them in front of you, but YouTube compression makes sure we can not.

  16. @sonictonic_ on October 26, 2024 at 10:33 pm

Thanks for the video! As soon as you are able – could you please compare the contrast and also speed for UI and page turns vs. the Colorsoft? I’m really curious how the b&w and speed compares between the two new devices….

  17. @iamricardosousa on October 26, 2024 at 10:33 pm

There are things where the new model is def a bit faster, although I would argue it’s not 25% faster in any way. Page turning though, after the latest update, is not of those things. I’m quite happy with my Gen11.

  18. @maureenb7399 on October 26, 2024 at 10:34 pm

Without a side-by-side comparison at home, I think I will happily stick with PW5 and keep that money in my pocket.

  19. @ranbirbhatia1585 on October 26, 2024 at 10:34 pm

Before I saw the title I thought a dual page kindle released 😭🙏

  20. @AldoGiambelluca on October 26, 2024 at 10:37 pm

How is the battery life? I upgraded from an old PW and so far battery seems to die much quicker.

Definitely not 12 weeks of 30m reading with light at 13/24 but I hope it was just a first week thing.

    Otherwise, loving it so far.

  21. @hh22 on October 26, 2024 at 10:37 pm

can you compare the contrast of new paperwhite with new basic and new colorsoft. compare the black text and white background

  22. @notsohopelessromantic on October 26, 2024 at 10:41 pm

Was waiting for your review since you really do a great comparison. ❤Agreed the recent software update made them closer in speed, but I do appreciate the contrast difference. Thanks!!

  23. @Svobodastical on October 26, 2024 at 10:42 pm

    practically the same

  24. @denismalinovskiy3914 on October 26, 2024 at 10:43 pm

Thanks for the review! I’m glad there’s some incremental improvements between the models, and dark levels are really different, even in the video. I wonder how Kindle Colorsoft will look.

  25. @fred3259 on October 26, 2024 at 10:44 pm

Kindle should add reading stats like Kobo.

  26. @alex.ito12 on October 26, 2024 at 10:44 pm

Love your content! I’d really love a screen comparison between the Libra Colour and the Libra 2

  27. @harrypotter416267 on October 26, 2024 at 10:45 pm

No Carta 1300 ink, no microetched glass even to atleast try to come closer in contrast, crispness of the competitors. Forget all that, lets give marginal speed increase and new colour way.. YAY.
Might aswell had named the device "iKindle"
Seems like influencer/istagrammer crowd is the targetted customers instead of actual readers.

  28. @neiltaylor513 on October 26, 2024 at 10:48 pm

People have said the new is more yellow, but in your vid it looks the other way round

  29. @marc_overmars on October 26, 2024 at 10:49 pm

I don’t like it being wider than 11th gen. 8mm wider for only 6% bigger screen. They could have kept it the same imo.

  30. @李繼明-v3n on October 26, 2024 at 10:55 pm

The battery of my pw5 became drain more and more by the time pw6 was released. It seems Amazon wants me to buy newer model😂😂

  31. @Smelly285 on October 26, 2024 at 10:56 pm

Can you test high intensive pdfs. Ie library book scans, photo book scans. These don’t work on the last gen. Curious if they are working now.

  32. @pouyanm on October 26, 2024 at 10:57 pm

i don’t really like the round corners on the screen. the corners on pw5 looks more like a book.

  33. @uhyanyan on October 26, 2024 at 10:58 pm

Good to know about the software update improving the page turn speed!

  34. @aliceinthelandofdawn9727 on October 26, 2024 at 10:59 pm

What I need is a paperwhite in a size of basic

  35. @ninjaec on October 26, 2024 at 11:00 pm

Does Calibre work with the newer models?

  36. @tonigee327 on October 26, 2024 at 11:01 pm

I am gonna stick with my PW5 I got it 2 months ago for $50 from my local Target.

  37. @NhiepKen on October 26, 2024 at 11:02 pm

It seems new ppw doesn’t use carta 1300 because there is not much of different between these 2 devices. I have ppw5, Kobo Clara BW (which using carta 1300) and Boox Page (which using carta 1200), their difference much more noticeable than ppw 6 and ppw5 in this video.

  38. @klaymoon1 on October 26, 2024 at 11:02 pm

Great improvement. Better black and silky smooth!

  39. @ezomariolkia on October 26, 2024 at 11:03 pm

What about pdf readig? It works horrible pod paperwhite 5

  40. @MortonSeinfeld on October 26, 2024 at 11:03 pm

Wow, it’s nothing. I bought a refurb PW5 for $50 a week before the new one came out. Crazy that it would cost me more than 3x the price.
